About Finsler Customs
In short: Finsler Customs GmbH (UID CHE-416.189.052) handles vehicle imports into Switzerland, from customs clearance through to registration. Its registered office is in Thayngen (SH), about a kilometre from the customs office. Anna Katharina Finsler founded the company and still runs it. What we do
We organise vehicle imports into Switzerland from end to end: sourcing in Germany and ten other European countries, purchase on your behalf if you commission us, transport, customs clearance with vehicle tax and import VAT and, with Premium, the roadworthiness test and registration in your canton of residence.
Finsler Customs is an import service provider, not a dealer: we do not sell vehicles and hold no stock. You buy your vehicle from the seller yourself, or you commission us to handle the purchase on your behalf and for your account.
How we work
- Transparency. Every item — purchase price, transport, customs, VAT, vehicle tax, registration — is disclosed before the order is placed.
- One contact. You speak to the same person from the first call to the handover, in German, English, French or Italian.
- Expertise. We know form 13.20 A, COC requirements and the cantonal inspection routines in detail.
Our position
We are a private service provider, not an authority. Customs clearance, the roadworthiness test and registration are carried out by the responsible Swiss bodies — the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security and the cantonal road traffic office. We prepare, organise and accompany them.

How does Finsler Customs differ from a car dealership?
A dealer earns on the margin of the vehicle. Finsler Customs sells no vehicles and charges only for its own service. As a rule you buy the car yourself from the seller; if you instruct us, we handle the purchase on your behalf and for your account, and any discount belongs to you. The vehicle price is in the purchase contract with the seller, our fee in the quote.
Why is the Thayngen location an advantage?
Our office is about a kilometre from the Thayngen–Bietingen customs office, one of the main crossings for vehicles from southern Germany. Vehicles are therefore normally cleared the same day, without days of waiting and without detours.
